For beginning players, I definitely recommend "Winning Low Limit Holdem", by Lee Jones. This book provides a solid foundation to play solid Limit Texas Holdem.
For a good discussion on poker in general, Dave Skalansky's "The Theoroy of Poker" is a must read. This book provides a lot of insight to poker in general.
For tournament play, Dan Harrington has writtenthe best books ever, PERIOD. This three-book series covers the beginning of tournaments and how to play in early stages. Volume two covers the end game and how to deal with your ever shrinking stack. Volume three is a workbook full of problems to test your knowledge of what you just read. These books are a MUST READ for any serious tournament poker player.
If you want a good high-level discussion of No Limit Holdem theory, then Davis Skalnasky and Ed Milelr's book "No Limit Holdem: Theory and Practice" is a five-star book. It does not deal with specific situations, but rather gives you the variety of things a winning poker player must consider while playing out a hand. This book is not for the beginner, and a solid knowledge of the game is required to absorb many of the concepts covered. There are many gems in the book that make it well worth the price.
