Multi Table Tournaments

Multi Table Tournaments are the most popular type of tournament.  In a multi table tournaments, as many tables are filled as necessary to accommodate all players.  As people bust out, empty seats are left at their respective tables.  To keep the tables as full as possible, tournament directors will break tables when every 10th person busts out of the table.

For example, if 100 people enter a tournament, there are ten tables of ten people.  When five people bust out, there are still ten tables, but with only 95 people.  One table might only have eight players, while three tables might have nine players.  The remaining six tables still have ten players.  It is not fair to the table with eight players to have to post blinds at a faster rate than the tables with ten people.  When ten people bust out of the tournament, the director will break up a table to fill in the empty seats at other tables.  This will continue until the final table is reached, at which time, the tournament becomes a singe-table tournament.
